Default What are AA, HDR and HDR+AA?

Sapphire believes that the two main features that drive 3D image quality is High Dynamic Range and Full Screen Anti-aliasing and they want to show you the difference.

High Dynamic Range (HDR)

High Dynamic Range is a lighting process that’s been designed to emulate in-game or artificially generated lighting to closely mirror the changes we see in the real world. This technology can be found in an increasing number of modern computer games to make lighting effects with very high contrasts look as realistic as possible.

Anti Aliasing (AA)

Anti-aliasing is a process which attempts to minimize the appearance of aliased or jagged diagonal edges. AA removes these jaggies and gives the appearance of smoother edges.

AA makes graphics and text easy to read and pleasing to the eye on-screen, and is a leading way of getting round the low 72dpi resolution of the computer monitor and making objects appear as smooth as if they'd just stepped out of a 1200dpi printer.

Of course many Sapphire cards support both.
