Default Help needed trying to connect an lcd screen to laptop

Hi everyone,

I have had this 19" Samsung lcd tv/monitor kicking around for a while and thought i'd try connecting it to my laptop,

So far i've installed the driver and mangaged to get the screen to show whats being showed on my laptop screen. This pretty much worked automatically after restarting my laptop. What i'm trying to do is dual it so i can drag across from one screen to another and show different things on different screens. When i go to display properties/settings, ive only got 1 screen icon showing up. I know most computers ive been one show 2 icons with one greyed out in the background.

Any tips to get this working would be much appreciated, thanks

I am assuming you are using the external VGA connection on your laptop and not an S-Video out correct? Use the VGA and then I guarantee your laptop has a FN key in the lower right or left hand corner of the keyboard, using the FN in combination with one of the function keys you will be able to send the signal to the external monitor, its usually F7 or F2 to accomplish this. You may have to do this combo twice (wait for the switch to occur before tapping the FN+F2 again. Then when the LCD is cloned on the display you go to properties and settings, select monitor 2 and click the check box for extend my desktop onto this display.
