Default Not A Pretty Picture ! A Civics Lesson !

THIS WILL OPEN YOUR EYES. By Paul Harvey.

Conveniently Forgotten Facts: Back in 1969, a group of Black Panthers decided that a fellow black panther named Alex Rackley needed to die. Rackley was suspected of disloyalty. Rackley was first tied to a chair. Once safely immobilized, his friends tortured him for hours by, among other things, pouring boiling water on him. When they got tired of torturing Rackley, Black Panther member, Warren Kimbo took Rackley outside and put a bullet in his head. Rackley's body was later found floating in a river about 25 miles north of New Haven, Conn. Perhaps at this point you're curious as to what happened to these Black Panthers.

In 1977, that's only eight years later, only one of the killers was still in jail. The shooter, Warren Kimbro,
managed to get a scholarship to Harvard, and became good friends with none other than Al Gore. He later became an assistant dean at an Eastern Connecticut State College. Isn't that something? As a '60s radical you can pump a bullet into someone's head, and a few years later, in the same state, you can become an assistant college dean!
Only in America!

Erica Huggins was the lady who served the Panthers by boiling the water for Mr. Rackley's torture. Some years later Ms. Huggins was elected to a California School Board. How in the world do you think these killers got off so easy?
Maybe it was in some part due to the efforts of two people who came to the defense of the Panthers. These two people actually went so far as to shut down Yale University with demonstrations in defense of the accused Black Panthers during their trial.
One of these people was none other than Bill Lan Lee. Mr. Lee, or Mr. Lan Lee, as the case may be, isn't a college dean. He isn't a member of a California School Board. He is now head of the US Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, appointed by none other than Bill Clinton. O.K., so who was the other Panther defender?
Is this other notable Panther defender now a school board member? Is this other Panther apologist now an assistant college dean? No, neither! The other Panther defender was, like Lee, a radical law student at Yale University at the time. She is now known as the "smartest woman in the world." She is none other than the Democratic senator from the State of New
York--
--our former First Lady, the incredible Hillary Rodham Clinton.
And now, You know "the rest of the story".

Alex Rackley was tortured and murdered by fellow Black Panthers in 1969 in New Haven, Connecticut. Rackley was suspected of being a police informant largely on the accusations of George Sams. Sams was a police informant but Rackley was not. The murder of Rackley may have been an attempt by Sams to divert suspicion away from himself. Rackley was interrogated and tortured for a week before being murdered.

Black Panther Party founder Bobby Seale was visiting New Haven at the time of the murder. Seale and thirteen other Black Panthers were arrested.

The trial of the Black Panthers became famous as the trial of the 'New Haven Nine.' Coming on the heels of the trial of the 'Chicago Seven,' in which Seale was also a defendant, for fomenting riots at the 1968 Democratic Party Convention in Chicago, some saw the trial as a concerted attempt to suppress political dissent in the US.

George Sams, Warren Kimbro and Lonnie McLucas were all convicted on various charges for the murder of Alex Rackley.

Bobby Seale and Erika Huggins were eventually acquitted by a hung jury. The jury voted 11 to 1 for Seale's acquittal and 10 to 2 for Huggin's acquittal.

What of Hillary Rodham and Bill Lann Lee? According to David Brock's unflattering biography, Hillary Rodham organized shifts of law students to monitor the trial of Seale and Huggins.

Bill Lann Lee was an undergraduate student at Yale and played no prominent role in the campus protests.

Did Bill Lann Lee and Hillary Rodham 'shut down' Yale with protests? No, sympathy for the Black Panthers was widespread on campus, both among the faculty and students. Yale President Kingman Brewster stated that he thought that the Black Panthers were unable to get a fair trial in the US. Yale University made concessions to the protestors and the demonstrations were largely peaceful, unlike the protests at Kent State University a few days later.

I can't find any other information on Erica Huggins so I can't confirm or disprove her involvment or subsequent accomplishments after the fact.

As much as I hate the Clintons, I can't honestly say that there is much validity in any any of these claims.

The article was posted as a reflection of history. The events did occur exactly as described. It is factual recorded history - not- an urban myth, therefore it can't be disproven as an urban myth.
The panthers did commit the torture and murder as described, those involved are as described. Did Hilary and Bill Lann Lee 'shut down' Yale ? Well, they both were student leaders that organized and supervised scheduled shifts of protests on the campus. What else for ?
Once President Reagan 'shut down' the federal gov over a budget issue, but did Reagan actually shut down the fed gov ? For all practical purposes it appeared so, but in reality- no, the fed gov kept operating.

The article is more accurate than any item you will read in the daily papers or hear on the evening news. It is recorded history, same as the Gettysburg Address. Can you disprove the Gettysburg Address ? I'm sure you can find sites to discredit it and make it appear less important than it really is. The urban myth site only tried to put it in a better light, with carefully worded sentences. By using statements that gloss over, white wash, broad brush the facts, it makes it appear less factual than it was/is.

Remember Hillary Clintons youth was pro-radical left, sympathizing with the communist party and radical groups such as the panthers and others. At the time America was fighting a cold war over communism and radical protest groups. The majority of americans - by far- were with their gov.
But association with those groups- then- would be the same as John Walker Lynn is - now - with the Taliban and Ben Laden, Now who wants to stand up and shout " Whoopee for John Walker Lynn " ? Is he guilty just by association ? Go figure.

Only thing I question about the article is whether Paul Harvey wrote it. He was an excellant reporter, had his own TV news series, worked with ABC and is highly respected in the midwest and south. But if he didn't write it, not one iota of fact is changed, it would still be just as factual if Donald Duck wrote it.

So you can't treat recorded history as an urban myth just to lessen its importance, although lots of folk surely do try. I was alive and well back then and remember all that and a lots more too that I wish I could forget, but as long as I can make it to the polls to vote, I don't intend to.

Rumor has it that Hillary Clinton is eyeballing the 2008 Presidential election. On Meet the Press, I watched her dance around a direct question on if she was going to run in that election.

That WILL be a day I vote and will be for whomever is running against her.

I agree 100 percent and will do the same thing. She doesn't have the title of " The most dangerous person in america " without reason.

On the Black Panthers topic, I forgot to mention that Stokely Carmichael fled the U.S to avoid arrest by the FBI. He was also the Panthers ' Honarary Prime Minister ' . He hid out in foreign countries finally surfacing in Cuba. He begged the U.S. State Dept to just please let him come back to the good old USA. That he would rather be in the U.S. in prison than in Cuba. He did come back and was imprisoned.
Neither did the article mention him.
