Default AMD to Unveil Its Fastest Athlons

I thought this was kind of strange. AMD's 2400+ and 2600+ have not even hit the distributors, yet they are planning to release the 2700+ and 2800+ this week.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. will roll out its fastest processors yet, the Athlon XP 2800+ and 2700+, during a news conference on Tuesday, according to sources close to the company.
The new chips, in addition to running at higher frequencies than the current top-of-the-line 2600+, will feature a 333MHz front side bus, which should enable the 2800+ to perform about 10 percent faster than the 2600+ with its 266MHz front side bus.

Might be a marketing thing? Trying to keep the pressure on Intel. Doesn't sound like a good thing, they might be pushing this chip out too fast resulting in some buggy chips...

According to pricewatch, the 2400's are hitting the shelves. Nadda on the 2600 though.
