Default Gigabyte GV-R9700 Radeon Pro Review

Gigabyte includes a standard set of ATI’s Catalyst drivers and really doesn’t do much in the way of customizing the driver settings; in fact, the only applet that lets you know there’s a Gigabyte product in your computer is the V-Tuner. We had a bit of trouble installing it as the current build has a hard time installing if you don’t certain things set just right on your PC, however, we’ve been told by a Gigabyte spokesman that a new version will be out in 14 days. We never were able to get V-Tuner working correctly with the current version, so we used Powerstrip to crank up the card to a whopping 400Mhz clock with a blistering 350Mhz (700Mhz DDR) clock rate. Although the performance gains are relatively minimal, it still makes for good bragging rights at your next LAN party. The addition of memory heatsinks on the top-side chips, has no doubt, helped this card achieve great overclocking abilities while still retaining stable-running temperatures.
