TheTechfreak's Quiz comes to NetSmog

as my site (www.techfreak.co.uk) is being shut down  >
keefe (admin) asked me to host my quiz here. until the new server gets made im going to do it like this:

every week on sunday ill make a new topic (TheTechfreak's Quiz #?)
you reply with your answers
next sunday i will post the answers

if we get enough people doing the quiz especially when the new server gets up then ill work on making it better, more advanced (perl scripts, login, anti-cheating protection) and then see about sweet talking manufacturers into giving us prizes   ;D

Anyway, enough talk, time for the first Quiz  ;D

(btw please no criticism unless you have a good reliable source to prove it wrong (that or about 50 ppl start flaming)

Ive got an idea.  why dont you post the peoples names the next Sunday b4 the next quiz and say ?/5.  Replace ? with what they got.  We can see whos winning.

Hhmm...I'll give that little quiz a try!

1) MD5 is a data signature algorithm to verify the integrity of data.

2) Was there even an evil empire before Microsoft (computer wise)? It could be IBM back then?  Of course, they weren't doing much with software but more on hardware.

3) Moore's Law has several meanings.  I believe the one we are familiar with is that the frequency of microchips doubles every year to 18 months.

4) EDO as in EDO RAM is a type of RAM chip.  It also stands for Extended Data Output.

5) DARPANet (aka Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency) was developed in 1969 to serve as a way for scientists and researchers that were in different geographic locations to share military information.   In 1972, it became known as ARPANET and that today is called the Internet.

does it make sense to post if someone already wrote down the answers here? i think not. and btw if you want to attract sponsors you shoud maybe ask questions that are more uptodate :

when i get webspace it will be better as hopefully you can have an account, login, you get 60 seconds to do the quiz, once youve seen it once thats it (stops cheaters), there will be a leader board as well

When I started to reply to this thread there wasn't even any posts other than cc_dex's.  So, I tried to respond, got sidetracked while typing the response and hit the submit button.  Voila, Uranium beat me to it.  Does that make sense?

Happened to me a few times that I´ve been a few seconds behind in hitting submit button.
