Default Bad Sectors

I bought a seagate 40 gb and used xcopy32 to copy old drive and wasnt happy with it, there were a few bugs. so i formatted the drive and started to load everything in the hard way, along the way scandisk found some bad sector's ans had to press the button "fix it" or something and this kept up at least 50 times so i stoped that process and got to use Nortons Disk Doctor and when it got to the bad sector's it got up to 7 and still readying or analizing the bad sector, i also pulled the pin on this as it was only on the first line on the screen and was already up to 40 hours estimated time to complete.
what i want to know is should or would a low level format fix the problem ?.

Low level format can work sometimes
worth a try, get software for it at seagate.
