Default COMPATABILITY WITH NEW AND OLD COMPAQ PC'S

:/ :/ I HAVE AN E-TOWER 266/E-MACHINE FROM 1995 OR CLOSE TOO IT.ALSO I HAVE A PASARIO 4000 ,40GB,1.3 GHRZ PROC. 128 MB RAM.BOTH PC'S ARE DOWN DUE TOO CHILDREN.CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT PARTS IF ANY ARE UNIVERESAL (COMPATABLE EACH OTHER)AND
IF THEY ARE SAY I NEED TO THROUGH THE PASARIO CPU INTO THE E-TOWER AM I WAY OFF BASE?PLEASE ADVISE.THANK YOU.

mouse/keyboad/monitor/speakers/cd-roms are the easiest to use on other computers but basically everything except the case, power supply, processor, motherboard and ram are swappable (unless you have the same ram on both)

NO THE E-TOWER IS 32MB AND THE PASARIO IS 128,SO BASICALLY YOURE SAYING THAT ALL THE IMPORTANT STUFF ISNT INTERCHANGEABLE RIGHT?DO YOU THINK ID BURN ANYTHING OUT IF I TRIED INTERCHANGING THE PARTS ONE AT A TIME?AND WOULD YOU KNOW A SIGHT THAT COULD ASSIST ME IN MORE DETAIL? THANX AGAIN MUCH APPRECIATED!

unless its RD ram.. 128 and 32 can go together, but if different speeds you dont want to.. and usualy cant

different speeds you can

if PC2100 is used with PC1600, PC2100 will usually downgrade to the speed of PC1600

that also depends on which slot you put the faster one in... the bus always accesses the first bay ..so put the fastest ram in that slot, and decends bus addy requests down the line sequentially.
