For some raw information on the new AMD architecture, see this article: (warning, contains flash)
In this article we continue examination of the AMD Opteron processors, as well as the AMD64 architecture (former x86-64). Note that the summary will be also partially applicable to the Athlon64 which is to be launched this fall.
Are you looking into buying some new parts or an entire system, then check out this
buyer's guide. Personally, I'd wait till Athlon 64 was out and look at some benchmarks before I did some purchasing.
Something I would be interested in buying is a DVD-Burner. And not just for the obvious reasons. DVD+RW can be an excellent way to back up a ton of data. The new generation of DVD burners are coming out. Their prices are lower than their predecessors were and of course the earlier gen burners are getting quite buyable (I can't say cheap). Check out to see if this
Teac is worth it. Don't forget about

Check out this quick peak at the
Abit Max3 mobo. I'm glad to see there are still PS2 ports (for those times when USB dies and you need a keyboard), but otherwise, it's about time for mobo manufacturers to drop legacy ports. Why don't they put legacy ports on the brackets, for the minority who might still need them and leave the back panel for the most mainstream high tech stuff. Thanks to Abit for pushing the mobo market in the right direction (hopefully customers and other manufacturers will follow). This is the
Abit Max2 in case you are not familiar with this series of mobo.
These
cases are truly beautiful (at least the outside of them are).
Ever wondered how much of a difference your ATA cable makes?
Pimprig tries to answer that question.
A networkable USB1.1/2.0 harddisk. I guess just fill up all those extra spaces on your switch with harddrives, no need to bother with an entire computer anymore :P.
