Default Another NTLDR is missing issue- Harware Upgrades

I was upgrading a system for a co-workers kid. He was using a Compaq 500Mhz with 64MB of RAM running Windows XP. I was suprised the thing even booted up. Nevertheless, I built him a 1.9GHz AMD Athlon, with a Biostar motherboard, 256MB DDR400, and a 128MB video card. The hard drive is a Maxtor 20GB. When I brought the system up, I got the infamous NTLDR is missing. Is this a case of doing the fix /mbr? His OS was intact and running on the old Compaq.

unless it is a corporate edition of winxp, you might have a number of problems starting windows due to activation. however, ntldr should not be impacted by just swapping the harddrive to another system. Nevertheless, It might work here to fix whatever issue is causing the bootloader to not work properly

I did some searching and tried the fixboot command and the fixmbr command to no avail. I ended up just reloading the system. As I was looking at it he had it set up for FAT32. So I reloaded it with NTFS partition and it seems to be rolling along just fine. Thank you for your time.
