Default ATHLON XP cooling question

I am cooling my Athlon XP 1700+ with a Volcano 6cu+. It seems to work ok. The fan spins at about 7300 RPMs. I plan on overclocking my CPU. Is this heatsink adaquate for it or should I buy a better one?

It's the one I use (specs below). it's a 7000 rpm fan and it keeps my 1.13 @ 44C max. It used to be 64C. And it's a well known fact XP's don't heat up as much as athlons. Put some Artic Silver3 premium on that sucker and then try.

Cool. I just wasn't sure if there was a heatsink out there that would be better. My temps are about the same as yours but i think i need som arctic silver. I am using some compound that came with it.

What do you suggest? Alcohol? When you apply the compound do you put it on the heatsink or just the core of the CPU. I buddy of mine puts it all over the heatsink before clamping it on.

if you put too much on it will act as a heat insulator and burn up...
