Default Samsung DVD-VR335 @ Accelenation

"The DVD-VR335 supports recording from analog sources (via composite) and even provides a FireWire port to record video from a DV camera. You can also record straight from the built-in VCR to transfer personal tapes to DVD. There is also a chapter editing tool to help you author your own discs."

Wally world is no longer carrying VHS tapes, and it's uncertain how long VHS tapes will be available at rental outlets (At least 2 blockbusters in my area no longer carry VHS), and I haven't run across any blank tapes in quite a while.

This means the only reason to buy a DVD/VHS combo recorder is to transfer VHS tapes to DVD, otherwise why bother with a combo unit.

Unfortunately, what the review doesn't tell you, is that there is no macromedia hack available for this model. What that means, is that any VHS tapes that have embedded copy protection (IE: most commercial tapes) will not be transferable to DVD.

This makes the unit useless for transferring your legally purchased movie collection over to newer media, regardless of how good the specs are.
