Intel revealed new information about its plans for 45nm processors today, and we have a couple of quick reports on them. First is a look at the chip code-named Penryn due later this year:
Penryn
Intel says Penryn is "not just a simple die shrink." The CPU will include some provisions to enhance clock-for-clock performance over current Core 2 processors, as we explain.
We also have info on Nehalem, the next-generation microarchitecture from Intel that steals whole chapters from AMD's playbook. Nehalem will adopt an integrated memory controller, a HyperTransport-like interconnect, and even Fusion-style integrated graphics.
Intel's New AMD Chip
I'm amazed it took Intel this long to figure out AMD's Technology being that they have cross licensing in place. They might have placed their engineers in those flashy space suits as I think they are suffering from oxygen depravation. Take the helmet off guys and get some air. I bet Intel's new slogan is: "Providing the best old technology remanufactured by Intel"
Can you hear the hordes of AMD fans screaming in the background now?
