Internet Explorer remains dominant

According to OneStat (Amsterdam) the following make up most of the browser market:

1. Microsoft IE 6.0 46.4%
2. Microsoft IE 5.5 23.9%
3. Microsoft IE 5.0 23.6%
4. Netscape Navigator 4.0 1.4%
5. Microsoft IE 4.0 1.2%
6. Opera 6.0 0.6%
7. Netscape Navigator 3.0 0.5%

I remind you that Netscape was by far dominant to Internet Explorer before AOL/Time Warner bought them out.

Mozilla and Opera notice slight increases, but all non-IE browser increases don't add up to the 1.7% increase for IE 6.0. Here is CNET's news.com article.

Yeah, you are absolutely correct about the Netscape position. I remember when Netscape was king with close to 85 percent usage. Then AOL took over, all of Netscapes software geniuses left rather than work for a cheesy, low class, cut-throat group like AOL, and I can't prove it but there have been lots of rumors that Netscape's resigning Engineers left Netscape a 'souvinir'. The browser hasn't been worth a dam since.

sad. i am using IE too, simply cuz i am lazy. and i need outlook express. i haven't got the time to learn working with another mail client like i can do with outlook.it is a question of habituation to me : sad story bout netscape. bout 2 years ago i tried netscape and came to the result that i don't like it anyways :-/

Well, -=aoC|PRoZaK=, I think you were too late in trying it, as Netscape at that time had already gotten a 'snoot full' of AOL.

Yeah, in their day, they were ages ahead of IE. Now there is nothing pushing for better browsers.

yeah..im using IE as well...6.0...and i am very anxious on when the new version is comming out...hey if any of us get the info on the next one...post it!!! but i dont think that they're gonna be comming out with a new one for a while because this 6.0 looks like it is holding its ground pretty well!
