Best p4 hsf

ok, bought my new p4 an i gotta say this hsf just aint cutting it, however i cant afford that watercooling kit ive so badly wanted. So basically i need the meca of p4 hsf in cooling and sound. i dont enjoy jets taking off under my desk. Any advice?

why doesn't it cut it? i have the stock hsf and i oc'ed 800 mhz more with no problems.. it is quiet, and i don't have problems, so i use it.. i even bought an aftermarket vantec fan rated for 3 ghz .. *i wanted to stay cool* but it was soo loud and didn't cool much better.. the intel fan is good.. but maybe you got a bad one or something..

all i know is that im running 60c idle in what intel has rated a "Thermally Advantaged Chassis " what thermal compound are you using ?

It's the absolute best HS on the market. Combined with a Vantec Tornado 92mm 119 CFM fan it competes with most water cooling rigs. It will take either a 60mm, 80mm, or 92mm fan. Depends on how cool you want it and how loud you can stand it.

thanks for the info, as it turns out the temp issue is actually a prollem with my motherboard not my hsf i got a msi 875p neo and it turns out they have a bios that fixes this, however on msi's forums these boards are getting alot of bad flashes and unlike most other msi boards it has the chip saudered in, but i found this out after i attempted the flash (in rma now) hopefully i can find somthing out by the time it gets back

didn't think it was the hsf.. i'm using "Antec Silver THermal Compound" <-- right off the tube.. it was $10.. dont make the same mistake i did and use it on ur vid card.. it'll be bye bye

I put AS3 on my new 9800 Pro last night.

I use a thin strip cut from a plastic business card to spread the compound very thin. Works great.
