i dont think that they are backward compatable...but im not sure....but why in the world would u buy a 533 cpu and use a 800 fsb mobo? Just go for the 533 motherboard. The 533 on 800 makes no sense

nonono i have a 400.. i'm not going to buy a 533. If i buy a chip it's going to be 800. I didn't say 533 anywhere .. hmm i'll have to ask else where until I find out that they ARE backward compatible oh and i e-mailed asus about my old motherboard.. sigh... see what happens.

oh nice, is that what you have? http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherb.../i875p-15.html it looks nice.. toms hardware says "Our assessment in brief: similar to its big brother P4C800 Deluxe, yet Asus has made savings in the case of the P4P800. One sound panel for simultaneous inputs and outputs is lacking (in the case of 5.1 Audio) and, in addition, the volume of equipment is very sparse. For $150, this product is, however, more cost-effective than the overpriced P4C800 Deluxe. " and this is just one of the examples.. but http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherb.../i875p-59.html shows the board i'm considering on the top of the performance list and yours much farther down. I notice that the p4p is a very nice board but nothing stands out to make me want to further pursue it. Thanks for the advice though..

but anyway, does anybody else know if my 400fsb p4 will work in a 800 fsb board? it worked in a 533...

it is a hell of a board, i just bought the 875p from msi. Its fast as all hell, but on the same token it can be a pain to setup and even more to overclock. If you are going to buy the 865 variant may i suggest you do it soon, intel is using a chip revision on the 865 to disable the pat(though not named that) tech.

heard tomshardware is starting to be bias to some brands and that they are taking money to have a good review....but its just some rumors

Check anandtech..and u will clearly see the p4p800 deluxe on top of the charts.

But ure msi buy is not bad either

IMO::Tom's and Anandtech are two of the most biosed reviewers on the web.
They get paid to review a product, therefore you are not gonna get a realistic picture of the product.
Why not go to a non biosed site that reviews stuff, and posts the real facts of the product.
