A
new measure in congress will go a long way to stem the tide of spam but will not stop it. Among the good things are:
1. Jail time and fines for pornography and get-rich-quick scheme spam.
2. Senders must properly identify themselves.
3. Requests for removal from a mailing list must be honored
4. A do not spam registry will be authorized for the FTC to setup.
You will still get spam but at least it should be of a better flavor. The bill has passed through congress and is now on it's way to the president for his signature.
