AMD is set to release a new Athlon XP core code named Paris. The Paris core will be a 754 pin package that unlike existing 754 cpu's, will not support the x86-64 instruction set and thus not be 64 bit. Its will be a strickly 32 bit processor aimed at strengthening AMD's position once the 939 processors come out. This will most likely cause a price drop for both Intel and AMD of their current line as the new 939's are launched. Good news for the rest of us. It remains to be seen what the new 754 package will bring to the performance table. Rest assured that TWL will begin lab testing shortly after launch.
