Default Need a video card....

Yeah, so, I originally planned on buying the ATI All-in-wonder 9600 XT, but I checked out some reviews online, and nobody really seemed to be satisfied with it. They suggested I buy the nVidia 6600 GT. I don't wanna spend $500 on a video card. Suggestions on anything in between that I could buy would be nice, $100-$300. I put a link at the bottom of one of the review sites. There's a drop-down at the bottom of the page where you can view the test results for each card on a few different games. Thanks.

I was about to say 9800 Pro, but the 6600GT pretty much beats it. if you go to other forums like anandtech's or hardforum.com, you can get a x800 Pro or 6800GT as cheap as $330. I just found someone selling thier 6800GT AND NV Silencer 5 for $330 shipped to my door.

6600GT is still faster than 9800XT in most cases
and only a few rare 9800 Pro 256mb can OC past XT speed

so overall, 6600GT is a good buy

yeah XT has 256mb so if XT itself is slower than GT then Pro 128mb OC'ed at XT is slower than GT too

and if 128mb Pro OC pasts XT speed, then perhaps benching is needed
but usually Pro 128mb past XT speeds are still slower than GT

theThinker, do u really need AIW solution?

6600GT is a very good card that is decently priced and powerful enough to run all the games today at a decent resolution and quailty

i think that is the conclusion of this thread
