Default Is QuickTime Alternative up to the task?

Hello all!

I'm not technical savvy. Therefore, I can't discuss this stuff on too high a level.

I downloaded and installed QuickTime Alternative, since it advertized itself as being just that, but having the additional desirable characteristic of not being bundled with stuff I don't want, namely Ipod software.

I can't, however, seem to get this prog to work. I don't know whether it's me or the program. Does anyone out there have any familiarity with this program, which seems to be nothing more than a jury-rigged mplayer2 that will play all the movie trailers and other QuicTime files that the regular QuickTime player plays.

Thanks.

I can't seem to input my avatar. Hmm. It's 87 x 92 pixels and 1.23 Kb, which is below the max allowed here. :-(

Yeah, it's not bad as a standalone, but I've had problems with it trying to have it work embedded in browsers. It's not feature rich, however.

Yeah, and it seems to work fine in browsers apparently. Forget what I said. If it works how it used to work just as a standalone, it's good for viewing QT files.

Yes, That's it.

Thanks for the feedback vee ess. But I still don't know what's going on. The recommendation to use vlc doesn't help. Vlc is great. I already use it. How I'm supposed to open QuickTime files and movie trailers with it is beyond me. Like I said, I'm not technically savvy. I did say that Didn't I? I should add that I'm using Firefox.

But I see there's a forum at that site Prometheus provided a link for. That's where I'll go to bother folks abou this. Watching movie trailers is just one of those little things in life that po folks like me value highly. What can I say? I'm not a partier. I like to fart around on my pc, making music compilations and burning them, reading around for info, discussing things, etc.. When I'm not doing that, I'm probably sitting in Starbucks (whose coffee is gross but whose service is great; cappuccinos are passable, despite their upgrade to an inferior machine) with a Toronto Star or munching out in a downtown eatery or watching a flick on the cut rate cinema down in Lawrence Market.

Later...

I positively cannot upload an avatar from my pc to this site! I've reduced my avatar to 90x90 (before that, even smaller) without luck. Is it just me? The 90x90 file is 1.58KB.
