WinXP takes 10 minutes to shut computer down- why?

I recently installed an 80g hd, and did a full system install. it is fine, but now, my computer takes about 10-15 minutes to shut down? why does this happen? how can i correct this problem?????
ps- with the 80g drive, i partitioned it into 3 drives.
