Default half speed ram problems.

I have recently bought a few components and knocked up my first computer.

problem is that the ram will not run at its correct speed.

I have an Asus A7V600 motherboard, i have branded kingston ram which is 333mhz and is 512 ddr. I am also running a AMD xp2800+ cpu, which is a barton and not the thourough bred. This is also 333mhz.

When i set it up, i set the bios accordingly at 33mhz. But it keeps crashing unless i set the ram speed to 266mhz and disable the level two cashe. If i leave the speed at 266 and enable the cashe it crashes same as if i disable the cashe and drop the ram speed.

I have checked the ASUS site and i dont need to flash the bios.

Please help before i chuck the sodding thing out of the window.
