What's the definition of "viewable size"?

the part of the monitor that displays stuff from the comp.. stuff that isn't plastic and surrounding the glass or whatever in the middle...

How is this measured? Diagonally or by HxW?

fairly certain it's diagonally.. if it was HxW it's be a much bigger number.. 17X17= 289...

my definition of viewable is...

what displays pr0n is considered viewable area
