Im not going to bother registering, its not necessary. But you all are gullible. Bonebox is full of crap, don't believe a word he says. Can you not tell he is just pulling ur chain? Every time you try to get details or a pic of what he has done he makes some excuse. You are all dumber for seeing any truth in what this person says. He never made the box, its bs! Otherwise you would see these mods all over the net if its as easy as he said it was. Go back and read his posts and think about how easy it would be to come up with the crap he said. Oh yeah 4 LCD's stretched accross the screen, gimme a break.

Also, have we not been saying that BoneBox is full of it and that he has done nothing, or has my foreign heritage led me astray from the comprehension of my native language?
I'm starting to think we should design the U.S. economy like the Canadian model, because evidently you can get a business running for a very out-of-demand product to sell like crazy despite an outrageous price in a matter of weeks!

another approach
I have spent alot of time hacking the IOpener machines. maybe someone can use this as an approach to putting another display on your machine. You could look for a way to network it to your Big Rig, and let it recieve images over Network(TCP/IP). find a way to access the display using a serial interface. I'm sure someone can find or write a low level driver that can send something to the IOpener to display. I have hacked mine with a 10Gig harddrive and a CD ROM. I use it to play MP3's, and it works fine. You can get an Iopener on EBay really cheap. I payed more to get mine shipped, than I payed for the unit itself. the only real disadvantage for the IOpener, is that the screen gets snowy when alot of movement is displayed on the screen, but that is just because it is an older type lcd.
Someone should take apart one of those lcd desktop displays(one that is broken) and see if your laptop screen will plug into its controller.
I wish you all luck.

i know this has been mentioned before.....but DVI is digital...thats what a lot market LCD's are connected to anyways... why can't you just wire one up for that... then the whole VGA thing is tossed away...and you just have to find a way to rewire 44 pins to a 24 pin port... (dont think i helped matters at all.) anyone willing to "brute force" the wiring ? that would take SOME time but it would work eventually LOL

use laptop screen on a pc??
I wonder, after reading this from the beginning, would it make sense to use a video card with an output for an LCD monitor?? They aren't terribly expensive, especially if you use eBay, and it would be digital already, so no need for conversion from analog signals. I can't imagine it's as simple as connecting the appropriate digital out from the video card to the corresponding pins on the raw LCD display, but maybe with an inverter board(which, honestly, I don't know what it is, LOL) it could be done. Also, what was the conclusion on the pins on the video cards? The ones that resemble a 20 pin version of a floppy or IDE connections? Are they for connection to a video source? Analog or digital? Maybe it's worth pursuing, IT MUST BE POSSIBLE TO USE A LAPTOP'S LCD SCREEN ON MY PC WITHIN A REASONABLE BUDGET!!! I have appreciated reading all of the posts, good luck to you all...

how do you get the thing to turn on??
after reading all of the topic I feel that i am tempted to buy a cheap laptop screen and destroy it but if i accidentaly get this thing to work how do you actually power the thing up??? is there a pin set you need to touch a screwdriver to or something??
Thanks people.

you guys are kidding yourselves......hahahahahahaha
anyway
the thing is you can't use an lcd panel on a vga or dvi signal
those are analog, lcd is digital in that it requires a whole bunch of signals to power up one line of pixels.
to do this you must have a converter board which takes the vga signal and digitizes it
however as there is no clear standard to lcd panel technology the converter board MUST be compatible with the panel. These boards are a waste of money as you might as well buy a 15 incher lcd for the cost
LCD screen cost so much because of the boards you see, analog to digital, only cheaper than if you buy separate because of the economies of scale.

heres a novil idea, after reading this topis from start to finish.
you know how sony brought out the little ps1
well, there are also these cool attachments that are LCD screens.
they are cheap to pick up second hand, PAL/NTSC even speakers, volume control, brightness, contrast.. there are models that arnt sony, so they are cheaper.... a psi works on AV out (RCA) y not get a dirt cheap agp card, or simila, that has av out, only has to be 4 or 8mb, not like it has to be high res for games....
they run of 7v or 7.5.. i forget.
these would be wicked for it, most are apx 5"
!!!
y not
if there are still people reading this thread, i think it is a good idea for all the lcd mods, its not quite the laptop lcd idea, but maby you can hook a bigger lcd up to it?? i don tknow, no techy on that side of things.
