That's because Transmeta sells chips to 4 buyers. AMD is actually selling more chips than Intel, though, with more and more of Intel's customer base switching every day.

Jason425's right, it's all about money. nVidia is probably banking on certain key segments of the market in which Intel outperforms AMD in terms of value (AMD has superior values overall). They have lost many of their buyers to ATi due to trends in the last year, and may be pursuing new markets.

probably just because AMD is raising their license fee and Intel is lowering theirs because of the recent losses in desktop intel has had

and intel wants to keep Dell Intel exclusive only too so it has to get some nice chipsets in so sort of gave some candies to NVIDIA to do chipsets and stuff

i think NVIDIA is asking for troubles

but yeah its all about $ so jason425 is right on that

nothing spectacular has came from ATI yet in the AMD chipset area
none of their new things impress me yet

I still believe they should make chips for both processors, that was my point. The company will make more money manufactoring for AMD and Intel. The only ppl that will want that chipset are gamers, and most gamers use the new AMD processors. I lean toward VIA myself...

heh
A64 already has memory controller built in

someday it will have HDD controller built in too perhaps

cant have graphics built in unless its a mainstream graphics technology because ppl still want the option and the upgradibility of a seperate graphics and sound cards

from a cost point of view, it still might be cheaper now to have the chipsets on the mobo instead of in the CPU
and sockets arent that fast yet
we need BGA!
