Ouch, I was hoping you did not use artic silver, but oh well yeah I would say it is definitly dead now, if you can find any trace of the paperwork I would make sure no trace is left of the silver 3 and send it back, or you could call them and say you lost the paperwork and they may take it back, visiontek did that once for me because they are really cool well were really cool

LOL!!

what makes silver so bad?

well if you happen to have a stick of silver
stick it in the electric socket while holding it with ur bare hands
see if you get fried or not

well that sums it up pretty much

yes, Silver can conduct Electricity, there for shorting circuits if contacted with the electronics

now you would wish you looked at this before you did what you did

Default email to chaintech

LOL! i used the CPU stuff on the video card.. lol anyways here is a copy of the email i sent to chaintech tech dept

Hello, my name is Jason and i recently purchased a chaintech geforce 4 card. I already was using ramsinks but wanted to put thermal grease on as well thinking that it would improve cooling and performance. After putting antec silver thermal compound on the ram modules and thermaltake ramsinks on, the card would only produce an unusable screen of very distorted images. I am requesting an exchange for a similar card or something of the like because perhaps the damaged card could provide information that would help you in future development of cards, and to warn people that such behaviors are unwise. I appreciate all consideration on the matter.

one way that might fix it is to clean the spots with the silver compound with isopropyl alchohol, perhaps thats what AI was thinking of doing once he get ur card for 20 bucks?
