yeah, i did too. and sadly the elementary school that i went to still uses IIe and IIgs today.
and i remember playing doom on my friend's 32X.

that was like a 2 year difference.. green and black screen, to 3d game in full color.. gold mac vs PC.. different eras
not to mention different types of games

You can find the original dooms in stores. All 3 (D1, D2, Final Doom) packed into one CD. then go to http://www.doomsdayhq.com and download the Doomsday Engine and 3d model pack for doom. It adds a new expirence to the game you never had before

nope. the Hexen engine was a modified version of the engine for Quake 2. Doomsday used to be a re-build up from the original doom engine. Then they scratched that and built it up from scratch. It supports high resolution D3D/OpenGL, 3d sound hardware EAX.
