There are millions of phpbb forum posts indexed in search engines. There is no problem getting phpbb forum posts indexed, no more than Vbulletin. Vbulletin has a lot of nice features, but there is no problem getting them indexed.

There are some mods that even set it up so you can have automatic google sitemaps with forum posts. So that is not a reason to go with Vbulletin.
