Default Dead slow printing from XP work group net work than 98se

We are facing a printing problem in windows XP.

Problem Description:- Print jobs takes extra longer time from Windows Xp
loaded compaq D220 m/c than other branded pc

Site Details:- Compaq D220 --2Nos., Compaq D240 -- 1Nos, HP Brio --2Nos,
other Compaq pc's --- 15Nos

Server Details: Compaq Prosigna 200 -- 2Nos.

Platform Details: WinNT 4.0 with Service Pack6a

Application s/w which prints tried out:- MS Office (Excel)

Backend Software: Oracle 8i

Clinents: - Win95,98se and Win XP prof.

Printers:- Epson C63, HP DJ6350

Connectivity:- HP DJ6350 is connected to windows 98se loaded hp brio pc in
the network.

Problem Description:- When we send print job from XP loaded D220 and D240
its takes around 1min 30 sec for a single page of file. And for 10 pages or
more the file takes more than 10 min to start the print jobs. The same page
printed from 98 clients it takes only 5sec.

Diagnostic Details:

1. From XP loaded HP D220 print spooling file size transfer starts from
64bytes and after 2 min the it become 128 bytes and again after 2-3 min it
become 640 bytes etc.. But in 98se loaded m/c the transfer of file starts
from 128 bytes and it completes with in sec.

Tried out solutions:-

1. Reinstalled Win XP.
2. Tried with different LAN cards.
3. Checked the cable connectivity.
4. Checked with Epson C63 printer.
5. Updated the system Bios to 1.11
6. Loaded Netbeui protocol.

After all of the above, problem persisted. But when this HP DJ6350 connected
to a XP loaded HP D220 m/c, and checked from different clients from the N/w
problem was resolved.

What is the solution to this problem ?

Same problem here. Little business network. Win98SE on 3 PC's and WinXP on 2 others. The printer is a HP Photosmart 1215 on a Win98SE. VERY SLOW when printing from any of the WinXP PC's.

If a solution is found, please post back. Meanwhile, I will continue searching.

Cheers,

Tried that. Got the driver from HP website.
The problem seems to be associated to the print spooler in WinNT (WinXP).
The search goes on...
