Typhoon PSC Preview

While at SC06 (Supercomputing 2006) going on this week in Tampa, I had the opportunity to speak with John Nguyen and Jeff Fettig, and David Montgomery from Tyan. As some may know Tyan is big into the server market and has been for a while. Last year at Computex Tyan announced their offering of a cluster server powered by AMD Opterons and named the Typhoon PSC or Personal Super Computer. The Typhoon PSC B2881 announced at Computex 2005 was an eight (8) way Opteron with very respectable performance at its price.

This year Tyan follows up on the series and has announced an Intel powered Typhoon PSC that can be configured for up to 40 CPU cores. This is the Typhoon PSC 600 Series and Techwarelabs has the first look at this true supercomputer thats small business affordable. Tyan aims to bring supercomputing to everyone with the Typhoon PSC 600 series.

TechwareLabs spoke with David about the Typhoon PSC 600 Series and we bring you the VIDEO so you can see a true supercomputer up close.

Video Details: WMV Format, 30.89MB, 6:42 seconds. Click Here

Lets take a look at the specifications direct from Tyan.
