In-depth look at the packaging of the Cosmos S RC-1100 case:

This is the really cool, sleek, shiny box that this marvelous case comes in. Also, this is the biggest box I have ever seen a case come in that was meant for a user level computer. I actually had a difficult time fitting it inside my car, and once it was in my car, I couldn't see out of my back window. If you plan to get this case and transport it, I would suggest finding someone with a van/suv/truck to help you. Later I will show a comparison of how big this case actually is!

The first thing you notice is a lot of pictures for a box, especially for only half of it. I wanted to show you how much thought Cooler Master put into the box, so you can anticipate how much thought they actually put into the product inside of the box. Above, you can see all of the pictures that they have on their web site as well as some information about key features of the box. Some of these include little fun facts - like the fact that the Cosmos S was designed with dream cars in mind: the all new touch sensor, the fact that this is the first aluminum chassis they have ever built, and a tool-free design! This excites me because I know how much time is involved with building a system. Cable management is a neat idea, but without a window in the case, it is kind of hard to show off how neatly and efficiently your cables are routed. There is mention of a windowed version on Cooler Masters web site, but I was unable to find any more information about it. I don't know where they would be able to put a window with so much of this case being mesh, but I would love to see it. The outside of the box also shows some products that Cooler Master suggests to be used with this case as shown in the picture below.

cosmos s box suggestions

I am not sure about you, but I am dying to dive in and see what is inside this gigantic box! Let's take a further look at what is inside the packaging:

Directly inside the box you can see the generous amount of protective Styrofoam. This is definitely a good thing as I got a case from a manufacturer once that decided to skimp on it and only put little pieces around the corners. Suffice it to say that the case was way too bent up to close properly, and because it cost so much to ship back, I ended up just having to buy another case. Moving on to the next picture, you can see the awesome dust protector that Cooler Master provides. When people see the Cooler Master name on your dust cover, they know that there is something fierce inside, especially since it is the size of a small motorcycle. Moving on to the last picture, you can see that Cooler Master further protects the case with an extremely thick piece of plastic. This plastic is thicker than your average lawn trash bag, and I assume it would absorb a good amount of shock forces, preventing the paint from scratching or chipping. The packaging ended up doing a very effective job, the box showed signs of being dropped and was also torn open a bit, but there wasn't so much as a scratch on the case itself!

cosmos s quick installation guidecosmos s manual

Included inside the box was a quick installation guide that walks you through the setup very briefly. The manual was also included with the case which gives a lot of information about it including specs and whatnot. I say we rip that plastic off and get to what's inside. Follow me on to the next page where we actually take a look at the outside of the case.
