Kingston 4GB DDR2-1066 HyperX Memory
Testing
For our testing we are going to using the following benchmarking software:
- SiSoftware Sandra XII SP2b
- PassMark Performance Test v6.1
- Everest Ultimate v4.2
- RightMark Memory Analyzer
For doing our testing we used the following system:
Motherboard: |
Asus M3N-HT Deluxe |
Processor: |
AMD Phenom 9600 @ 2300MHz |
Graphics: |
|
Ram: |
2GB Cruical Ballistix DDR2-1066 |
Hard Drive: |
2x 320GB Seagate Hard Drive (Raid 0) |
Optical Drive: |
WriteMaster DVD Burner |
Power Supply Unit: |
Antec TruePower Quattro 850 Watt |
Operating System: |
Microsoft Windows Vista x86 Ultimate |
CPU-Z v1.45:
Below you will see the Memory and Speed tabs from CPU-Z for the various testing settings found on the following pages. Being tests is a 2gb kit of Cruical Ballistix and the four gigabyte kit of Kingston HyperX (shown using 2GB and 4GB). We decided to use both configurations of all four memory modules and just two, to try and give a proper comparison to the Cruical Ballistix.
SiSoftware Sandra XII SP2b
"SiSoftware Sandra (the System ANalyser, Diagnostic and Reporting Assistant) is an information & diagnostic utility. It should provide most of the information (including undocumented) you need to know about your hardware, software and other devices whether hardware or software. It works along the lines of other Windows utilities, however it tries to go beyond them and show you more of what's really going on. Giving the user the ability to draw comparisons at both a high and low-level. You can get information about the CPU, chipset, video adapter, ports, printers, sound card, memory, network, Windows internals, AGP, PCI, PCI-X, PCIe (PCI Express), database, USB, USB2, 1394/Firewire, etc."

Cruical Ballistix 2GB Integer: 9.05 GB/s |
Kingston HyperX 2GB Integer: 9.05 GB/s |
Kingston HyperX 4GB Integer: 9.79 GB/s |
We used the Memory Bandwidth benchmark to get a proper look at how the memory was performing. As shown in the results about, SiSoft Sandra reported the memory bandwidth using both integers and floats. As we can see, the results for the Cruical Ballistix 2GB and Kingston HyperX 2GB were pretty much the same, with a small improvement using floats on Kingstons HyperX. We can see the difference when we toss in the other two memory modules that are included in the four gigabyte kit. Once installed we notice that the bandwidth increased from 9.05 GB/s to nearly 9.8 GB/s.
