Introduction

It's been awhile since the socket 939 first came to the market.  Then, people just wanted to get their hands on it.  Now, it's not a matter of whether or not to upgrade but more so of a matter of what motherboard and chipset to go with.  Your choices for the socket 939 platform are rather slim however, your basic top contenders are VIA with their K8T890 and K8T800 Pro and NVIDIA with their nForce4 chipsets, ATI with the Radeon Xpress 200, and SiS with the SiS756.  Arguably, the nForce4 chipset takes top honors when it comes to the socket 939 platform.

So today we are going to take a look at a socket 939 motherboard that is based on the nForce4 Ultra chipset.  The Chaintech VNF4 Ultra from their Zenith value edition series.  Now this board is intended for the budget user so you can't expect a load of features however it does it's thing and still includes Gigabit ethernet and 7.1 audio as well as Serial ATA II.  Also included is Norton Antivirus 2005.  We are excited to check out this motherboard to see how it performs and to see exactly what you are getting for your buck.  Let's check it out.
