Introduction
The WaveBase Wireless Gateway is one of several network appliances from a relatively new company, Nexland. Nexland develops and produces a diverse range of products intended to ensure a secure network, without interfering with the user's needs. Nexland boasts its own patented technology allowing certain, encrypted data, which the user has approved, to pass through the firewall to the user, as well as allowing multiple simultaneous sessions of other useful protocols or applications to exist (such as IPSec and PPTP, for the networking savvy).
First Impressions
The packaging for the Nexland Wavebase Wireless Gateway is quite efficient, without sacrificing an artistic, easy-to-read appearance. Although it does not feature vibrant, high-contrast colors like the packaging of many products, a very professional, clean appearance is portrayed.
The contents of the package are arranged in a very secure, and well-insulated manner, so that little to no shifting of the contents occurs during shipping. Supported on two sides by foam insulation, the Wavebase itself is protected on its top and bottom from shifting and vibration. The 802.11b PCMCIA card (which will be explained later) is packaged in bubble wrap, fitting its dimensions almost exactly.
