A Closer Look

dock front
Here you can see a close up look at the docking station structure. As you can see it is made of plastic and the mounting holes for the docking station to be mounted to the PC case are countersink with brass fittings. The front of the NA303US has two LED lights for Power and Hard drive activity.

Here is a close up of the latch on the docking station which holds the drive in place. This is also made of plastic but seem a little flimsy and could in time break due to standard daily use.

The NA303US seems to be built for the casual home user who would use the docking station/drive combo for backup up data and on rare occasions the would they remove the drive to be used else where. Those users who are thinking of using the NA303US for daily docking and undocking, may find the latch which holds the drive in place weak and possibly failing in a brief time period as appose to a latch which is made of metal or of a different design. Though, outside of the latch the structure of the docking station is quite simple and durable. The drive case is primarily made of plastic internally, but the two plates which cover the top and bottom are made of a very thin metal to assist with heat dissipation.
