Lite-On LTR-52327S Conclusion: The LTR-52327S really has a lot going for it. While it is not a real speed increase in areas like reading or writing, this drive is a killer rewriter. Additionally, the LTR-52327S is smaller and more attractive than its predecessors - not to mention the fact that one can find this drive on pricewatch for a mere 45 dollars. Alas, there are not favorable features without those that are less attractive. The gripes to be had with this Lite-On model are as follows: first, the build quality is rather flimsy, when it comes to the loading tray. This is a persistent problem with Lite-On that has not been rectified - I feel as if I could just tear the tray right out without any effort (although we do not plan on testing this theory). Second, the drive is rather loud. While Lite-On does utilize VAS technology (vibration absorption system), this model, like it's high-speed predecessors, will assuredly annoy some of the more noise-sensitive users out there. The bottom line is that the Lite-On 52327S drive is fantastic for those who have been waiting to upgrade for a while. It reads and writes just as fast as anyone could reasonably expect, and it can rewrite disgustingly fast. It can make one to one copies and it takes up less space. Slap a 45 dollar price tag on it, and there you have a very compelling reason to buy Lite-On.
