Inno3D GeForce FX 5600

Review by Michael Tran on 07.01.2003
Video Card Provided by InnoVISION

Suggested Retail Price: $249.00
Street Price: $167.00

Conclusion:

Personally, I was not a huge fan of the video cards that require both an open AGP and a PCI slot to power the hefty fan that sounds like a vacuum cleaner.  Consequently, I was relieved to find that the non-ultra versions of the GFX cards have neither a huge heatsink unit, nor require an extra PCI slot to accomodate the large heatsink.  I found the video card to be very cleanly built, with a nice black-colored PCB, even though I found the heatsink and the large logo to be rather tacky.  Even so, the video card's construction is very commendable and is well-suited for its task.  The video card doesn't perform well enough to be considered a top-notch card, nor is it inexpensive enough to be called a value card, but rather falls somewhere between the two categories.  Due to the powerful CineFX engine and the competitive technology of the Inno3D GeForce FX 5600, it has earned the Techware Labs Recommended Product Award.

Pros:

DirectX 9 Support
128MB
AGP 8X
0.13 Micron Process Technology
CineFX Engine
Intellisample Technology

Cons:

Does not achieve top end performance
Tacky looking heatsink and fan
Low Peak Memory Bandwidth
