Dell and HP Gaming

Dell

Dell has several gaming solutions to meet any gamer looking to buy a pre-built machine. They fall under their XPS line and are as follows:

XPS 420

The XPS 420 is Dell's value gaming/entertainment desktop and starts at $899. For that price you get an Intel Core 2 Q6600 Quad, 3GB DDR2-667, 320 GB hard drive, and an ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO 128MB. You can upgrade this to an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650, an 8800GT, 4GB of 800MHz RAM and up to 2TB of storage.

XPS 630

The XPS 630 is Dell's mid level gaming desktop. This is a new system in Dell's line up and starts at $1,149. At that price you get an Intel Core 2 E8300 2GB RAM 500GB hard drive and an ATI Radeon HD3870 512MB GDDR4 or 8800GT for 50 bucks more. You can max this guy out with an Intel QX6850 and duel 8800GTs or a 9800GX2 1024MB GDDR3 and 2TB of storage. Not to shabby.

XPS 730 and 730 H2C

This is where Dell starts to get serious. Dell has two high-end desktops that will meet the needs of all but the most elite gamer. The XPS 730 starts at $3,999 and comes with an Intel Core 2 Q9450, 4GB of Corsair Dominator DDR3 1333MHz RAM overclocked to 1600MHz, 500GB Seagate hard drive, dual ATI Radeon HD3870 512MB, and a Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card. This beast can be upgraded to a standard Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 with dual Nvidia Geforce 9800GX2 1024MB or dual ATI Radeon 3870X2 1024MB essentially giving you 4 graphics cards and a maximum of 3TB of storage.

The 730 H2C starts at $4,999 and come with a few extra things.

"The XPS 730 H2C comes with Dell's patented two-stage cooling system that helps keep your overclocked CPU and chipset cool and stable. The innovative H2C hybrid solution combines a liquid radiator, a thermoelectric cooling module and control circuitry, optimizing CPU cooling with minimal power consumption. Standard on Victory Red and Stealth Blue, optional on the Brushed Aluminum model." This is great for those who want liquid cooling but don't want to do it themselves.

This monster also comes standard with a factory overclocked Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 3GHz running at 3.67 GHz, 2GB of Corsair Dominator RAM, Seagate hard drive (like the regular XPS 730), and a single ATI Radeon 3870X2 1024MB graphics card. You can then upgrade to an Intel QX9770 3.2 factory overclocked to 3.8GHz, bring it up to 4GB of the Corsair Dominator, dual nVidia Geforce 9800GX2 cards, or dual ATI Radeon 3870X2 1024MB, and up to 3TB of storage. Dell is not playing around.

The XPS 730 also comes with ESA: "ESA enables real-time and complete PC performance management, while delivering new control and monitoring features for thermal, electric and acoustic characteristics. Tune your system to sustain peak performance or whisper-quiet operation."

On top of all this, the XPS 730 and 730 H2C look amazing. They've upgraded their airplane hanger design of the previous XPS 720 to a design similar to their new XPS 630. The inside of the H2C looks really cool too.
