Microsoft TechEd 2008
Developer Week
Venders / Partner Expo:
At the Microsoft TechEd 2008 Developers, companies were showcasing their latests technologies and solutions. One of the biggest reasons people attend these types of shows is to try and see the latest industry products, upgrades, and solutions. Seeing these latests solutions will allow you as a developer to get the latests tools and make your life that much easier. The expo really does provide "one-stop shopping," as you can walk around and see the latest tools and solutions made by several different partners, and find out which one is right for you and your company. Not only do you see the product, you get to meet one-on-one with the exhibitors themselves and get a deeper understanding of what their product does.
There is so much to explore within the Partner Expo, you won't want to miss the opportunity to:
- Make new business connections
- Learn about new companies
- Get help with your technology challenges
- Discover new products
- Stay ahead of the curve by finding out about new and upcoming innovations

Mike Lynch Explains TechwareLabs to Keith Sharp of K2 |
Nearly every vender was either giving out shirts, slinkies, flying monkeys, or some other type of nerd like toys. Others were having drawings or raffles for more expensive items like cell phones, guitars, or even robotic toys. For theses drawings, you had to be seen wearing either their shirt or hat throughout the duration of the conference. For instance, Windows Mobile went around and picked out five people per day and gave them a free Blackjack II. The catch? You must be wearing the Windows Mobile hat. For example, K2 had a raffle everyday at 7pm for a remote controlled robot. The catch? You must be wearing their shirt at the time of the raffle. Since I really wanted this robotic toy, I figured I would participate and jump in on the action, when I got there I realized I forgot to bring the shirt I got earlier in the day. After asking for a new shirt, they were willing to give me one, but they were out of my size as well as the two sizes under mine.........I had to wear a medium shirt when I normally wear an XL or XXL shirt. Shown in the picture below you can see me on the left and the marketing director for K2, Keith Sharp, on the right. Other companies such as SourceGear, offered five user licences of their software to anyone who could beat their best player at Guitar Hero III. One of our Hardware Specialists, Dan Shannon, showed SourceGear that we have way more time to play video games then they do, winning 197,324 to 81,745. Dan even stopped for drink breaks and an autograph signing mid-song.
