Upcoming Technology:

Aside from the prizes and hoopla of the event there was a lot of information presented about upcoming technology that was interesting. There is no doubt that AMD will be positioning itself for a move to quad core as soon as they feel the market is right. They will once again be leveraging the onboard memory controller to help even the score with the Core architecture from Intel.

ATI's presentation hit on a lot of facts and we didn't detect much bravado or skewing of the facts. We have to applaud ATI for their job with Vista drivers and we continue to love their products. Image quality, colors, and performance all remain 100% on target. All we have to say is "Holy 1 Billion Colors Batman!". Where can I place my order for my 10 bit capable 30" LCD please? Rock on ATI!

Microsoft also presented some good information, though Im most of this could be found with some research online. The MS representative was very patient with questions from the crowd even when the questions were in our opinion stupid or just plain off topic.

We have to mention that we just love the animated video desktop of Windows Vista Ultimate. It's worth getting if only for that feature alone.
