i wanna get me sponsors in car moddin. help me get into a good engineering school like MIT. that'd be so cool.

sponsor is someone who gives financial support for you to do what they think your good at.

Hell vee_ess I didn't know there were any other grease monkeys here.  How much do ya allready know about cars and have ya been workin' on any yet or just got high dreams of skinnin' you're knuckles.  I was a mechanic at one time (along with about 6 other jobs that have no conection to each other in any way).  Still try do all of my own work when I can.  Done some crazy moddin on them to.  That's where you can void very expensive warraties very fast.

Re: the meanin of the word "sponsor"

just what we do in my auto class in my high school and i have helped my dad with minor things. so basically just high hopes. there is something about cars that is cool for me. i like Europeans cuz they are just way better engineered than anything else (excluding French cars and VW's, no offense). For me, i also like to try to improve them. not just making them faster but simultaneously making them more efficient, with better longevity, etc. Basically improving engineering. I take it you like it. tell me more. and yeah, voiding waranties in autos are way more costly. just let's not say anything to the others. lol

Re: the meanin of the word "sponsor"

I normally get stuck with repair and that sucks.  My wife's truck had been totalled but the jerk fixed it at home and hid the damage.  Took me a year to find it.  Ended up chaging the frame on a 95 Ford F-150.  It had a three inch body lift which came off.  On went a 4" Skyjacker lift.  But the 33" tires hit the bumper with the new lift.  "Had me the sawzall"  Instant clearance.  Truck run's good but we need to rebuild the 302.  It's got some age and a lot of hard miles.  Just get good with the gas wrench.  Oxygen and Acetyln are the best gift a mechanic can give himself.

Re: the meanin of the word "sponsor"

what are those things: gas wrench, oxygen and acetyln. well i know what oxygen is, just what you meaning here?

Re: the meanin of the word "sponsor"

A cutting torch.  It uses the two gases and can cut though allmost any part of a car.  Great for stuck and rusted bolts.  As well as any other part of the car that just pisses you off.

And that's about the size of it.

Re: the meanin of the word "sponsor"

basicly the point of a sponsor is so you can get free shit and be happy when they give you  a review and by reviewing you advertise for them... they're not crazy by giving you something for free there's always something behind it bro :D

vee_ess 04-06-2002 11:28 AM

Re: the meanin of the word "sponsor"

exactly. but it can also be other things such as an athelete going to the Olympics can't practice if they are always making ends meet, so a company comes along and says that if they will let them put their logo on their apparel, advertise for them, etc., the co. will pay for their financial needs.

savage, i take it you like trucks better, or am i wrong?

Re: the meanin of the word "sponsor"

vee_ess:  good guess, I've owened 6 Ford Pick-ups 1 Chevy S-10 and a Chevy Nova.  Just something about V-8 engines and 4-Wheel-Drive.  Now If I can just figure out a good transmision I want to hook up a V-8 to a harddrive.  Now that's a voided warranty.

Yeah, UH. The sponsers should be picking up over the next few days a bit. Frank should be getting a HSF. Uh hopefully they don't send it to the wrong place. Digital should be getting a Cold Cathode soon as well as some software. Prozak should be finishing up his RD2 and BayBus articles pretty soon.
