Lite-On 52-32-52 CD-RW

Recently Techwarelabs had the opportunity to take the Lite-On 52x32x52 drive in the lab for some testing. Lite-On is one of the most sought after drives when CD-RW's are purchased.

With 52x burn speeds, it is not the minor speed differences (a few seconds here, a few seconds there) that matter. What matters is that the quality of the burns stays consistently high when writing at such speeds, and quality is that on which the review will focus - so let's see if the Lite-On 52x32x52 drive is up to scratch!

The Lite-On 52-32-52 CD-RW is on sale at Circuit City in the USA for $14.99 after rebates. It is a Labor Day sale on 8-30 and 9-1 2003.

Maybe it's time to upgrade from my 4X/4X/24X drive  .

We all know that CD-RW drives will eventually vanish with the arrival of DVD-RW drives coming in more. Can't wait to get my hands on one of them.

vee_ess 09-01-2003 01:42 AM

Yeah, yeah... It's taken four years to come down from 500 to about 250 for DVD burners so I don't expect them to come down much faster for a while. In the mean while I'd like to keep my hands on the green :P !

MIK3 09-01-2003 01:52 AM

Yeah. Come to think of it. If I'm going to spend money, it sure as hell is going to be put to my car before my computer. What was I thinking??

vee_ess 09-01-2003 01:54 AM

Heck yeah! Cars before computers is a given.

MIK3 09-01-2003 01:56 AM

Cars before almost anything is a given...

vee_ess 09-01-2003 02:17 AM

What do you mean almost?

MIK3 09-01-2003 02:19 AM

My bad. The after effects of the heroin were kicking in.

You guys need to get your priorities in order. UPGRADE OR DIE!

Heres a vote for silicon first!

MIK3 09-01-2003 01:54 PM

If you're pertaining to a car...you are most certainly correct

vee_ess 09-12-2003 04:55 PM

Wow. That is one noisy drive. I don't care though - it burns around 3 times as fast as my old drive reads!!!

Rodrin 10-03-2003 08:32 PM

Rather noisy, but Norcent is quiiet.

Yeah, this drive is very noisy but if you just burn with it then there shouldn't be a problem, for a much quieter burner check out Norcent's 52x24x52 burner, I have two of them and they are almost completely silent. Not a bad burner either.

ViTA 10-07-2003 06:59 AM

if you are saying that cdrw drives are going to become obsolete, wait till blue laser drives are wide spread, and then we wil see the most prominent drive!

scdiverx 11-06-2003 08:51 PM

I buy one today!! for 52$ CAN. Verry cool drive... noisy but i dont care.
