Intel 536EP v.92 Modem HELP WITH ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE

  I have an Intel 536EP v.92 Modem and it comes with extra software like FAXTALK CallerID and NETWAITING (or MODEM ON HOLD) features. I have no trouble with my FAXTALK Caller ID recognizing my modem but my NETWAITING REFUSES to recongize my modem. I have tried UNINSTALLING (including PHYSICALLY unstalling my modem) then REINSTALLING it THEN install the software as well as just installing the software BUT NOTHING seems to be working. PLEASE HELP ME!

i'd contact intel support, as they probably have a faq or something about this

I HAVE contacted INTEL support and they told me to contact the manufacturer. I found out the manufacturer DID NOT include a necessary template with the DRIVER of the modem. That's how I got to looking for any software that came with my modem and I got a hold of FAXTALK. NOW I have the software but I can't get it to ackowledge my modem.

Install the necessary template or driver and it will be recognized. I suggest you do a search www.google.com for the driver and location/installation information. It may be necessary that you manually install the information into the registry for the software to recognize the hardware.

I have the drivers and the software already. How would I go about MANUALLY INSTALLING THEM INTO THE REGISTRY?

BTW THANKS FOR THE INFO

Jason425 04-15-2004 07:47 PM

why do you have to use the registry? Can't you just install em with some exe? or use the add hardware wizard

JustSurfing 04-16-2004 12:22 AM

OK, I never thought about the registry until the OTHER JASON mentioned it. I think I've got it worked out now though, I'm about to test it and see.

NOPE, DIDN'T WORK! Can you possibly explain to me in LAYMEN'S terms HOW I would go about installing a driver I download from the internet?

Modem Chipset and Modem Drivers

I downloaded the Chipset Driver and the LATEST Modem Driver from the internet. But, when I try to update my driver my computer says I'm already using the BEST driver. Another thing I noticed is that the LATEST modem driver does NOT list the modem as a v.92 ONLY the earliest ones do. So I figured if I uninstall the modem ALL TOGETHER, then reinstall the modem, install the CHIPSET Driver and then install the latest modem driver MAYBE THAT WOULD WORK? :)

Then again, maybe not. I am so confused right now. I have been working on this NETWAITING project now for over 3 weeks and I've gotten very little done about it. PLEASE, IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Jason425 I'm not sure what it is u r asking?

Jason425 04-17-2004 10:39 AM

well.. ok if it says it's the latest then uninstall it (there is an uninstall button under device manager) then restart and install the correct driver

JustSurfing 04-17-2004 10:45 AM

I did this. Now the driver I am using is Provider=Intel Version=4.28
but ANYTIME I try to upgrade this driver The new driver does NOT show that it is a v92.

JustSurfing 04-17-2004 10:46 AM

By the way, I got the driver from the FAXTALK CD.
