Actually, back in my days of Windows 98, on my AMD K6-2 500 MHz, I did find a program to customize the *colors* of the BSOD (which I did). I made mine have a black background and red text. I found that really captured the mood of the BSOD better than blue and white. I haven't had a BSOD in a while though...so that's good (dammit, I know I just jinxed myself).
