I think what everyone's trying to say is that:

It's all well and good to technically void your warranty by overclocking, but it's likely that you can trick some place into thinking you didn't actually void the warranty, by erasing any evidence showing otherwise.

Personally, though, I wouldn't count on being able to get away with tricking some place into replacing your broken CPU.  IMO, XDiGiTaLX lucked out, a LOT.  He could have been out some major dough if the store would have been a little more conservative.
