thanks guys

gnogtr: the machines at uni are all roughly around 2-3 ghz 1-2 gig ram ok gfx card nothing too special, your machine could easily handle Maya 6.0 (the prog i'm using) although I think I'm gonna use Softimage XSI for my next project to me it's alot easier to use. You can get a 30 day trial of XSI if any of you are interested in trying out some CG.

cherrypie: thanks alot for the offer but I havn't finished It yet, I've got some test animations but they are low quality previews, the shots up here are just single frame renders and it's gonna take an loooong time to render the whole thing, but thanks anyway.

Wow, the detail is quite astounding. I'm no expert, but it doesn't really seem very far off from studio quality (Shrek, Toy Story, etc), except for lacking accessory detail (textures? hair? feathers? carpet? Regardless, the features are all incredibly smooth (how many triangles does each of these characters contain?), and the faces are incredibly expressive. I, too, look forward to seeing this develop, and checking out the final project.

What sort of work are you ideally looking to go into after graduation? Something like Pixar, or a smaller freelance studio, or what? Best of luck on the project, and the job hunt.

Well its not that complex the shader on it, it just messes around with the incandesance (the glow around it) and makes it look like tiny velvetish fibres, But it looks ok with one light source but multiple ones tend to make it not look as good
Poly count is about about 20000 but thats in quads not polys 40000 in triangles (maya likes quads but for games stuffs in tri's), But i modelled it low poly then at render time im gonna subdived it so it looks smooth.
Im not gonna try and land a job at a big place like pixar because the smaller places have more varied work where at the big places you just become really good at one task which will get abit dull.
But thats if i even get in the industry its really hard to.
