New computer for keefe!
So I finally decided to build a new computer. If you already did not know, this is what I used to be running:
Asus P3b-F motherboard
Pentium III 450
256 Mb of PC 133 RAM
10 GB Maxtor 5400 RPM
24x CD-ROM
2x HP CD-RW
Sound Blaster MP3+5.1
15" Toshiba Black monitor
As you can see this was not doing me very well, so I decided to upgrade to this..
MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU W/ RAID
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
512 Kingmax PC2700 DDR RAM
80 GB 7200 RPM Western Digital SE Hd W/ 8 meg buffer
52x/12x CD/DVD Drive
40x12x48x Lite-On CD-Burner
Sound Blaster Audigy
19" Flat CRT ViewSonic Black Monitor
As you can see, this is a pretty sweet setup. Its not the fastest on the market, but it was what I could afford and its 100 times better than my old system.

Sweet sys it looks like it will be. What are you going to do with your old one? OC it?
Also, just one question about your new sys, are you going to use the RAID?

I dont have enough hard drive right now, however I plan to buy some 80 giggers and do some striping.

Re: New computer for keefe!
I'm running a 2-point RAID 0 array with 40 GB ATA133 7200 RPM Maxtor HDDs right now on my primary system. If you've been paying attention in my thread about my FTP server, you'll know that I've run out of room.
My next paycheck I'm planning on getting two 80 GB ATA133 7200 RPM Maxtor HDDs and setting up a separate RAID 0 array, and then two paychecks later, getting two more, and setting up a 4-point RAID 0 array with the 4, 80 GB drives, for a massive 320 GB logical array...which I figure should hold me for a few more weeks .

same here with the raid 0... 80gb total... on my primary and i'm out of room... 80gb on my file server and thats out of room too. i have to go out and buy me a new 100gb . Keefe you should wait and see how AMD's opteron processors turn out. they should be out beginning of 2003. It woudl be nice to have a 64/32 bit processor. We need a drooling smiley!

64-bit
That leads to something I have wanted to do for the last year and a half, since the publicly stated their will be a 64-bit edition of MS Whistler (Windows XP which was at the time reffered to as Whistler). I have wanted to get a rack or something and join a few quad processor mobo's and use Windows XP 64-bit Edition. Then, with some other powerful components, I have the coolest system of anyone (for a day or so at least - till someone expands on the idea). I post this today, and tomorrow you'll see someone braggin about their system like it. Oh well.
