Default Screaming HD, and I don't mean fast...

MAN, I'm having so many problems with my servers! Alright, I took out my storage HD from my old P200 server, and stuck it in my new Duron850 server. I cut it on, and I hear my primary HD spin up, the the other straining a bit. Suddenly, my room is filled with the wonderful sound of my HD screaming away. I'm not sure if somthing is rubbing in there or what, but the noise was almost unbearable! Somehow, I managed to get to windows, and the HD was working fine, other then the strange thinking noise(kinda sounded like water???) Anyway, I think the HD works, but what could cause it to suddenly become so loud?

Also, is this fixable? A bit of a dumb question I guess, but I REALLY need the HD... All I have in my new server is one 3.2G with W2K server...

A hard drive making any noise but the standard seek noise is generally a bad thing. I would suggest backing up any critical data, even if it is working at the moment. I don't know for sure what the problem is, but before you go looking for ghosts, make sure it's not something obvious, like it rubbing against something, or not secured properly. Perhaps take it out of the drive cage entirely and see if it makes the sound still, and see if it makes the same noise when on its side, or upside down, etc. I think it's safe to assume it is no longer under warranty if it's a 3.2 GB, but if not, try looking for a local authorized warranty repair (replacement) center.
