Default SERGE PROTECTORS ARE VITAL!

Just wanted to drop a line and say if you for some odd reason do not have one, you better get one, I have never had a spike that I know of, but tonight about 1/2hour ago I got a big one, actually killed my belkin protector and enough got through to make me have to reset my mobo which I found odd, I thought it killed it as first for it would not even boot, so far no damage. I always have used a protecter of average value but always wondered if one would ever come in handy! Boy they sure do, I cannot afford to rebuild my darth vader pc which some have called it *L*

I've actually been considering a UPS recently, but it always seems to fall low on my priority list.

I have an APC UPS connected to a APC surge protector.

Lightning took out two very expensive Ascend routers of mine a few years ago and I vowed to never let it happen again. Afterwards, I put redundant power protection on everthing and am proud to say nothing has been damaged by surges since. Here in E. Tennessee, we get some pretty sudden and intense lightning storms during the summer and I always hear horror stories of how peoples stuff get fried.

Well guys, bad bad news, my comp worked for about 5-10 minutes after I reset the mobo, then it froze up for the final time, I tried everything to bring it back up and it would not, I took each component out and tested it on my girls comp and everything worked perfect. put it all back in my system and tried it again and still dead checked my power supply by putting it in her pc and worked fine, reinstalled it and the light comes on the mobo but no beeps nothing, if I reset the bios then it beeps, I can get into the bios but that is as far as it will boot, even if I put everything to safe still does nothing Oh well guess I will be buying a new board tommorow, hope the ddr 400 soyo in avalable, Since I have to buy a new one anyways I guess I will try to pick that up, if it is not then I will pick up the same platinum soyo. ALso I will be bying a nice apc to go along with everything. any suggestions..? This sucks Vader is dead *L*
