Please help a girl!

Hi Everyone,

I am new and trying to install my motherboard myself. I bought the ePox 4g4a+ motherboard w/ Intel P4 1.8 CPU. When I boot up, I get an error code "26" on the post LCD. It says in the manual that its an "overclock failure". I set the CPU bus speed jumper to 100mz, then back to CPU auto-detect and its the same error. no matter what I do, it does not go away.

Can someone tell me what I should do?

ugg I'm trying to figure it out. Can't find overclock error or anything like that on google. Try to update the motherboards bios.

Thanks for your response but I cant update my BIOS. I cant get my system to boot up. It stops and displays the Post LCD error "26" when I turn it on. I can't get past it.

I'd suggest manually resetting the BIOS settings with the reset jumper. You should be able to find the location of that in your motherboard manual. Also, I don't know the motherboard's specs offhand, but it's possible it requires certain criteria to be met before it will boot to prevent overheating of the processor. Some motherboards require a fan to be functioning on a specific motherboard connector, some require a certain temperature. If there is any protection like this on your motherboard, ensure there's no way that could be holding up the boot.

The 1.8 should be on a 100Mhz bus, so I would just keep it there instead of the autodetect, because many times errors lie in the detection process. (It actually isn't 100Mhz, because it is QDR so 100 X 4 = 400.) I would say to just try that first (after of course, you take Omega's advice and reset the BIOS).
